Scrapbook Layout of the Day

I almost did not get this up today as my husband surprised me with a night out, I will tell you all about it soon

.

Todays layout is a fun and bright little one, I liked it so much I made two, one for me and one for the store.  Using cardstock as a backer and bits of pieces of patterned paper you can make numerous layouts and or cards from just a few sheets of paper.  The felt flowers came prepackaged so I was able to use the entire package on more than one layout and the tiny rhinestones add just a touch in various places.  Imagine the layout without them.............(waiting while you imagine)..............................................much better with huh?

Scrapbook Layout of the Day

(Click on each picture for a better view of detail, they are better bigger) So my girlfriend over at Funky Vintage Kitchen says I should do a layout a day, this she tells me at our scrapbooking weekend this past week. So I think about it and think...hmnnn....this may be the incentive I need to keep current. If I force myself to post a recent layout everyday or even every other day at some point I will run out, unless of course I keep it going...so here goes. This is one I did last weekend for my Etsy store, Paperie Pretties, I will give it a couple of weeks online at Etsy and if it does not sell then it goes to the Local Scrapbook Store as I sell kits and layouts of out there. This particular layout includes vintage music paper handcut flowers and vintage buttons, the frame near left if made of a flexible soft material that has been inked and glimmer misted...oh so suttle. Prima pink paper flowers have been accented with Stickles glitter glue, the kraft background paper has been handpunched using a Martha Stewart border punch, lace, faux pearl strand and butterfly applique ribbon strand. Chipboard letters have been applied with crackle glossy accents so they are shiny and distressed (see pics), the butterfly punches that appear to be flying off the page have been applied with crackle glossy accents and then glitter glue applied. Vintage themed patterned papers are by Karen Foster I believe.

Pretty Pink Roses

Have you ever seen so many little roses on one bush??? At our new home we have this in our backyard, a bit overgrown and needs to be trimmed but the fragrance is just AMAZING! Unfortunately it is farther back on our property than I would like, with that aroma and tiny little pink pink pink flowers, I want it right up by the house. I have no idea what type of rose this is, maybe one of you reading can help me out but they are so dainty and I just love love love this plant, did I mention the flowers were pink my favorite. Which by the way, no kidding, stands proably 10-15 feet tall and I cannot even guess how far around it spans, maybe 30 feet or more around, it is huge and pink!

Happy Anniversary

9 years ago right now I was at my wedding reception proably sipping champagne and dancing at this moment. Happy 9th Anniversary to my beloved.... looking at the picture of us on the day, my how we have changed. Matt no longer has the glasses or the mustache, his hair is lighter (greyer) but he says it "blonder"..ok honey, you keep believing that. We look so young, and thinner, dang! We are tight on funds at the moment but Matt still managed to swing some roses for me, he said two roses stood for each of us, how sweet! and of course he always writes something meaningful in my card.

Is it summer yet? I need a BREAK!

cause when summer hits and school is out, I won't be so busy...will I? It seems the last few months I have been so busy...finally settled in after our big move and now its one thing after another at school as the year is quickly coming to a close. So I think I need a vacation! Sunday we leave for Disneyland......again. I love taking my kids and watching there little faces light up as they see the park signs, but it's work, not so much relaxation. This will be my 4th time to Disney in 12 months, so I am sure after this trip I will be done...yes, done...for sometime. I was actually thinking about that today as I was sitting at a stop light today. 3 trips to Disneyland, season passes for 4 and hubby and I a week at Disneyworld.......cost=way to much but...fun for kids...priceless. However....I will get a break, not so much relaxation yet again but a break. The morning after we get back from Disneyland I leave for a scrapbooking retreat with 7 other women to a nice quiet little house on the coast. We stay up late, scrapbook from early am to the wee hours of the morning. We chat, we gossip, we boost about our kids and vent about them too. We take walks and basically have one big grown up girls sleepover full of crafting for a few days, with no kids and no husbands. Most importantly there will be no can you do this, can you take me here, can you pick this up, can you make me this, and not one time during those few days will I say...please stop whining, don't fight, go to bed, eat your dinner, pick up your clothes, don't hit your sister, get away from him, go outside and play...you get the picture. All mommy's need a break at one time or another....we do, we do.

To paint or not to paint???

My home decor is vintage, kinda shabby, chippy or trying to lean that way, loving the look of the creams and white furniture so I am posed with a dilema that perhaps you can help. My mother handed down to me a rocking chair several years ago that I really want to paint white. This rocking chair was the first piece of new furniture they ever bought and my father bought it for my mother when she was pregnant with me (so yes, over 40 years ago)or so I remember the story. It is showing wear in the staining, nicks, and dings which gives great character but for some reason as much as I want to paint I am hesitant...do I leave as is, the way they bought it all those years ago or....do I make it my own and do with what I want???
