My blog is nearing 5000 hits so I thought it would be a great idea to do a Giveaway this week. New projects, works in progress.

I have been working on some projects this past week, none of which were my own personal design, and are for my own personal use, but none the less I wanted to share, and you might learn a thing or two like I did. First we have this cute little Kaisercraft frame. I ordered this "kit" from the Jenni Bowlin site. Mine differs a little from hers as I decided to ink my edges and had some issures with my cateye chalk ink. You know sometimes those little buggers fall apart which left a nice ink shape in one of my corners! So I had to really ink it up and then to soften it I added the liquid pearls dot border. This kit used some of her products and vintage papers. Next another Jenni Bowlin website design however I did not buy this kit from the site, I scraplifted the idea (hers was sold out). In the works (I still need to add a quote to the top frame) I think its really cute and will hang in my kitchen. To hang it I tea dyed some muslin fabric to match but....It's not my favorite look. The item featured on her website has a rosary type chain to hang it and I think that would look much better. Just having a hard time finding one I like for cheap on ebay! LOL But I will keep looking. Again using all Jenni Bowlin products, this project was fast and easy! The one thing I learned from doing this kit was the flowers. Using long strips of paper, crinkling and sanding and then adhering to a chipboard circle by folding...love them! Next I did this "Dream" girl 12x2 canvas. This kit was designed by Michelle Van Etten and can also be purchased from her, by the way all her kits come with an instructional DVD. This project and the next one down (clock) are both her kits, I just love her stuff! Anyways, this canvas uses the Prima Paintable papers and lots of glimmer mist. Michelle is a designer for both Prima and Tattered Angels so all her kits uses these products! I buy these kits for personal use but to also "learn" something new I can teach others in my own classes. I had never "painted" with glimmer mist before, alcohol inks yes, but not glimmer mist, so that was something new. The other "new" thing I learned was in using the self adhesive felt strips. She has you remove the adhesive back and then sprinkle the sticky side with glitter so it sticks, you then put glue on the non sticky side to adhere to your page. Now why did I never think of that? This project has lots of sparkle! She includes diamond glaze in your kit and what she did was outline the petals, leaves, veins etc with the diamond glaze and then sprinkle that with glitter. However I am not a fan of "loose" glitter, to messy! So, I used the diamond glaze in some areas and then outlined all the above with a bottle of my Ice stickles glitter glue, saved a step or two and NO mess! So, this project is done, it just needs that perfect picture which I need to find. And lastly is another Michelle kit, this family Kaisercraft clock. Just needs pictures (then I can finish attaching the clock hands). This clock uses paint covered with glimmer mist for a suttle shimmer.I think I followed this letter for letter however hers reads "my family" and I changed mine to read "our family" since I will hang in our home, in a family space. Again, learned something new, in the big flower near the bottom. By rolling the petals inward and then laying different sizes, adds dimension and a uniqueness to it (did I spell that right? LOL). I will definatley be rolling up some flowers in a future class, thanks Michelle!

But I just wanted to stand on the sideline!

The t-ball coordinator just called and informed me that our team has NO coach! Great! I co-coached last year but was really hoping to be able to sit on the sidelines this year and watch my kid play without the hassle! I told him to call around and if they could not find anyone...I would (reluctantly). I have the experience from last year, and I know Carson loves the fact I was the "coach". So now I am just waiting for that phone call to tell me its all mine....what can you do, if nobody is stepping up, you gotta do it for your kids, right?

Prima Marketing - A few "new" must haves....

Always on the lookout for scrapbooking materials that are a "must have", I recently disovered these page pebbles by Prima Marketing and they are....a must! 3 dimensional acrylic gemstones,sold in packages of 8, so cute!! They come in a variety of patterns and would be so cute on cards, inside flower embellishments, or attach magnets to the back and how awesome would they be on a magnet board you created to match! I have found these to be on the average of about $3.90 a package. Look how adorable these little owls are: and they have turtles and frogs and so many more fun themed items. A few more of my favorites, love the vintage inspired ones!!: Prima also has some new acrylic stamps that are a "must have". At less than $2 each, look how awesome some of these are (see below). I plan on using the newsboy one to make my own vintage inspired flower diecuts. (pictures are NOT actual size) and this notebook stamp, I can think of tons of things to do with this one. and the Bingo card is a hot, hot, hot item these days. Why not make your own, over and over again with this cute little number: With so many new and great items, it hard to not say I will take one of each!

A little self-indulgence

How often do you indulge yourself on something you want? I mean something frivolous and unnecessary? What do you love to pamper yourself with? Well, I very rarely indulge myself on anything for my personal self, well other than my monthly pedicure. Sure I buy scrap booking supplies, and a lipstick at walmart every now and then (which always disappear) but something really nice, not so much. I am a bath and body girl, love my bath products, my salts and scrubs, my gels and lotions and my candles. But, it has been a really long time since I got to really splurge on those items. We did not exchange gifts this year for Christmas with anyone, and Santa only came for the kids, (monetary reasons) so I did not get my usual yearly gift of these items. So today, after a couple of days of a really bad headache and just feeling crappy about myself in general I decided to hit downtown Napa for a little shopping spree while the kids were in school. Can we afford this, probably not, but you know sometimes you just need a "pick me up". So, today I splurged and self-indulged myself in a new perfume ( I don't own any others), a great new candle (amber and clove scent), a new mascara and face cream for mature skin LOL and a cute little vintage inspired coin purse so I may actually be able to find the change in my purse when I need it. I would have got a new purse had they had one I had liked. Probably better they didn't but....I did look! Could not find any "bath" products I had to have, so that will have to wait until the next time I really need a pick me up, or some extra funds. So what do you like to indulge on when you can? When was the last time you did? and are you due????

Minnie Mouse Parade

Ella (far left) and a few fellow mice. There is that pageant wave LOL! Last Friday was the Mickey/Minnie Mouse parade at Ella's preschool. Having watched her bigger brother do this for 3 years straight she has been looking forward to this day since the first day of school. The letter of the week is "M", so they do everything that starts with that letter. They marched around the playground in a circle to the tunes of Mickey music. It was actually sunny and dry and they had a great time! Ella had the pageant wave down pat (is she telling me something) and she was concentrating very hard on marching and waving at the same time. So cute!
